Germany’s Saxon Red Bulls hope to continue their monumentally impressive form this weekend and, in the process, carry a 13-game-unbeaten-streak into the coming World Cup break. Most recently, Marco Rose’s RB Leipzig were able to dismantle Freiburg in a thorough fashion on Wednesday evening.
The win against die Breisguaer nevertheless didn’t come without a cost. Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol broke his nose during the fixture and had to be taken to the hospital. Abode Diallo injured his knee during the warm-up. Mohamed Simakan, who began the game in the right-fullback position and scored, complained of back problems afterwards

At his Friday pre-match presser., Rose revealed that all three defenders were doubts to face Bremen on Saturday. With regard to Diallo–who has been called up to Senegal’s World Cup squad–Rose wished to emphasize that there is no evidence of anything potentially serious yet. Gvardiol may still be able to play if the club can locate an appropriate mask to protect his face.

The absence of the trio may force Rose to reconsider his favored back-four; the formation that has brought him so much success since taking over for previous head-coach Domenico Tedesco and ditching the old RB back-three. This may not necessarily be the case, however, as Marcel Halstenberg, Lukas Klostermann, Benjamin Henrichs, and David Raum are all fit.
