Summary
- Arsenal are linked with several players to strengthen their attack next season.
- As well as Viktor Gyokeres, Rodrygo, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze are touted for an Emirates move.
- The stats of the trio compared to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli make for interesting reading.
After three years of finishing as runners-up in the Premier League and having not secured a major trophy in five years, the pressure is well and truly on for Mikel Arteta to deliver success to Arsenal this coming season. In order to do that, he has sought reinforcements for his squad, with the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi signed, sealed and delivered, and Christian Norgaard and Viktor Gyokeres believed to be following suit.
The latter of those names seems the most important, with there being an emphasis on additions needed to the frontline at the Emirates, as many believe that is where Arteta’s squad is at its weakest. It is perhaps for this reason that the names of certain wingers are also being linked with the club – namely Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
The arrival of any of these names will see them competing with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli out wide. So, GIVEMESPORT has decided to take a look at their stats per ninety minutes last season and see how they stack up against one another.
All stats will be taken from the players’ respective 2024/25 league campaigns.

Finishing
Saka the most dangerous in front of goal
When it comes to who is the most reliable at finding the back of the net, it seems as though none of the reported names linked with making a move to the Emirates can match Saka’s output. Per 90, the England international has the most goals (0.8), the best shot accuracy (77.78%) and the best conversion rate (33.33%). In fact, the only statistic here that he is not ahead on is shots taken, where he is joint-second with Eze behind Noni Madueke.
Across the board, Martinelli is consistently one of the weakest performers in this category, which doesn’t bode well for the Brazilian. As for the potential new recruits, there is not much to separate them, but it is arguably Madueke who comes out looking the most consistent of the three.

Playmaking
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo the stand-out
Should Arsenal get hold of the number nine they are after, their wide attackers may have to prioritise setting up the focal point rather than being the main outlet for goals themselves. In this instance, it seems as though Rodrygo would be the smartest bet.
Despite falling down the pecking order following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, the Brazilian leads in five of the eight categories in this section, with some of the most important being in assists, chances created and passing accuracy.
Elsewhere, there are some standout performances from Martinelli and Saka in crosses attempted and crossing accuracy, while Eze takes the cake when it comes to through balls. There is no victory in sight for Madueke, however.

Possession
Eze shows his strengths
Arteta’s sides like to break teams down with long spells of possession, so being comfortable with the ball at your feet and taking people on is a must. Just as important is your ability to help win back possession after losing it. In this discipline, it is Eze who tends to thrive above the rest of his competition.
The Palace star has completed the most take-ons while also maintaining the highest success rate. While he is sometimes costly in terms of losing possession (only Saka has done so more frequently), he wins it back more than any of the others too. Sure, Saka wins more fouls and Madueke touches the ball in the penalty area more often, but overall, this is where the appeal of Eze is at its strongest.

David Ornstein Shares Fresh Update on Arsenal Move to Sign Eberechi Eze
Arsenal are interested in a summer deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze but may be put off by his high release clause.
Conclusion
Everything points towards Eze
The stats show that the five players all have distinctly different strengths. However, when you factor in Arsenal’s other potential business and what might be needed from a new wide attacker, the stars seem to align for Eberechi Eze to join Saka and potentially even unseat Martinelli.
While Eze’s stats are impressive, what they don’t point towards are perhaps the two biggest factors in his favour. One, he is Premier League proven, which is something that always works in his favour when being linked to other English clubs. Secondly, his impressive stats come despite the fact he played for a team that finished in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Yes, they won the FA Cup and were brilliant in doing so, but Palace are not the same as Real Madrid, Arsenal or even Chelsea.
While there could be the argument that Eze is the big fish in a small pond and that some of his individual stats will naturally look worse when the load is shared at the Emirates, the England international has also proven he can step back and support his teammates plenty at Selhurst Park, so doing so for a stronger Arsenal side shouldn’t be a problem at all.
