Rennes’ Valentin Rongier a doubt to face Lens

Valentin Rongier (30) is a major doubt to face RC Lens on Sunday night, according to a report from Ouest-France.

Rongier has been an ever-present in the Stade Rennais midfield since joining from Olympique de Marseille over the summer. The Frenchman has started and captained Rennes in all five Ligue 1 games so far, including against his former club FC Nantes, last weekend. That game ended in a 2-2 draw with Les Canaris coming from two goals down to salvage a point in second-half injury-time.

However, he could miss the game against Lens. As per Ouest-France, the former OM man is suffering from a calf injury.

He is not the only potential absentee. Alidu Seidu suffered a head injury in the draw to Nantes and the concussion protocol has therefore been invoked. In order to return and face Les Sang et Or, he will need to pass medical tests in order to return. It remains to be seen whether he will do that in time for this weekend.
