Rennes host Lille this Saturday afternoon at the Roazhon Park with a view to clinch their second win of the Ligue 1 season. Rennes v Lille promises to be a game to watch between two free-flowing playing sides. The ambitious Bretons are in need of a win after conceding three league draws in a row. Bruno Genesio’s side, who aim for a podium finish, are only eighth in the standings, two ranks below Lille.
Rennes will be without France U21 international striker Arnaud Kalimuendo. The former RC Lens man suffered a muscle injury during the international break with Les Bleuets. Free-scoring forward Martin Terrier is still on a path to recovery after sustaining a season-ending ACL injury last January. L’Equipe are reporting that Amine Gouiri, who is set to opt for the Algeria national team, should get the nod to start up front. Rennes youth product Désiré Doué is therefore expected to play on the left wing. France international left-back Adrien Truffert should make his return in Rennes’ starting XI.
Rennes likely lineup v Lille
Steve Mandanda – Lorenz Assignon, Warmed Omari, Arthur Theate, Adrien Truffert – Baptiste Santamaria, Nemanja Matic, Benjamin Bourigeaud, Ludovic Blas, Désiré Doué – Amine Gouiri
