According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Rennes have opened negotiations with Lecce to acquire the services of Marin Pongracic (26) during the transfer window. Stade Rennais submitted an opening bid worth €15m to the Serie A club and this has since been accepted.
Pongračić has most recently been playing for Croatia at EURO 2024 and is now set to embark on a new chapter of his career in France. The Croatian international made 2 appearances for his country at the European Championships in Germany.
Huge windfall for Lecce
As a result of the €15m sale of the former Wolfsburg defender, Lecce are set for a huge profit. The Italian club purchased the defender for €1.6m and are set to sell him for almost ten times that value – presenting a brilliant piece of business. Pongračić was ever-present for the Apuila club last season making 38 appearances in both the Italian top flight and domestic cup.
