Matchday four of the Ligue 1 campaign was rather eventful for Rémy Decamps (29). The Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper conceded three goals in the latter stages of their match against Stade Rennais as they suffered their first defeat of the new campaign 3-1. The Frenchman’s own goal in stoppage time ultimately cost his side points, while he is still suffering the effects of the equalising goal by Rennes.
L’Équipe reports that he could miss up to a month for Paulo Fonseca’s side after getting kicked by Jérémie Jacquet (20) on Les Rennais’ first goal.
Before last weekend’s match, Descamps hadn’t conceded a single goal in the French top-flight this season. His absence means we’re likely to see Dominik Greif (28) between the sticks when Lyon welcomes Angers SCO to Groupama Stadium on Friday.
Greif joined Les Gones in August for a reported initial fee of €4m with a potential €1.25m worth of add-ons. He won three Slovakian top-flight titles with Slovan Bratislava before joining Spanish side Mallorca. In his four seasons with them, he started 34 La Liga fixtures for them, featuring 31 times in that competition last season. In 2023-24, he helped lead them to the Copa del Rey final for the fourth time in the club’s history, losing on penalties to Athletic Bilbao.
Descamps joined Lyon in August 2024 as a free agent from FC Nantes and was seemingly in line to be the first-choice keeper long term before his recent knock.
