Reliable sources indicate Frimpong has given approval to join Liverpool after talks held

Liverpool could sign a new right-back next summer, and they have earmarked Jeremie Frimpong as a potential option. 

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the final year of his contract at Anfield, and there is no indication that he will sign a new deal.

The Liverpool hero is being targeted by Real Madrid, and there is a big possibility that he could be allowed to move on.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Premier League leaders want to ‘anticipate the market’ and they have targeted the Bayer Leverkusen defender as a major option.

The Dutch right-back is a key player for Xabi Alonso and he has all the traits to be successful in the Premier League.

Tavolieri says that for several weeks, Liverpool have been in regular contact with the entourage of the Dutch defender, and ‘reliable sources’ indicate that the player has given his approval to the move.

Liverpool have not submitted an official offer, but the good relationship the clubs share could facilitate the move.

Leverkusen would demand a fee in the region of £50 million for their star defender.

Is Frimpong a good option to replace Alexander-Arnold?

It is pure speculation that Alexander-Arnold will leave the club because of the contract situation.

Playing for Liverpool means a lot to him. Liverpool will try their best to come to an agreement with Alexander-Arnold and it may be sorted out.

Alexander-Arnold is a world-class player, and it makes no sense whatsoever to lose him for free.

He is in his prime years and the Reds must look to keep him at all costs even though Conor Bradley is fast growing into a quality young defender.
