Initial reports that WWE Superstar Andrade had walked away from the company seem inaccurate. His profile has been moved to the alumni section of the website, but it seems the decision was ultimately made by WWE.
Andrade’s second tenure was brief, lasting just over a year, but since his return at the 2024 Royal Rumble, he has been involved in a number of different storylines, including feuds with both Dominik and Rey Mysterio, and winning the WWE Speed title in June of last year.
Reports claim that he was scheduled to participate at WWE Clash in Paris, but in the end, he didn’t make an appearance. It seems he was due to team up with Rey Fenix to take on several members of The Wyatt Sicks. However, due to disciplinary reasons, the former NXT Champion was pulled from the show. The Street Profits ended up facing, and losing, to Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
Inside Information on Andrade’s WWE Release
It seems, according to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio, that Andrade had disciplinary issues which resulted in WWE releasing him: “I’ve seen all the speculation everywhere, and I don’t know the whole story, but I do know it was a discipline thing.
“A couple of weeks ago, there was a disciplinary thing, and all I know is it was at a TV shoot, and he was told to go home, and he’s not been used since,” he continued.
Meltzer did, however, confirm that the release wasn’t due to drugs, alcohol, or marital issues, after his divorce from multiple-time WWE women’s world champion Charlotte Flair – real name Ashley Fliehr – last year.
Regarding the situation with Andrade being released, Meltzer went on to say: “Nobody would tell me what it was, but it was enough to be sent home.” He did mention that WWE wanted the Mexican wrestler to compete in the AAA project, but no reasons have surfaced as to why this never occurred.
Andrade’s first stint with the WWE lasted from 2015 until his first release in 2021. During this time, he was highly rated on the NXT brand and even went on to win the WWE United States title against Rey Mysterio in late 2019. Between these spells, he also worked with AEW between 2021 and 2023.
It seems that Andrade has been removed abruptly, with no mention of his whereabouts. His recent tag team partner Rey Fenix appeared on SmackDown recently to challenge Sami Zayn for the WWE United States title without any reference to the now released Andrade.
