According to The Athletic, Real Madrid are targeting a move for Arsenal defender William Saliba (24) when his contract expires at the Emirates. However, the European champions would be forced to wait until 2027 for the French international’s signature.
The La Liga outfit hold a strong interest in the 24-year-old and are eager to bring the centre back to the Spanish capital. Arsenal are unwilling to sell Saliba and any move may have to take place as a free transfer. After their triumphant victory against Madrid in the Champions League, the Gunners will be hoping they can convince Saliba to remain in North London before the end of his current contract.
Real Madrid are no strangers to signing players as their contracts approach expiry. The Spanish capital club signed Kylian Mbappé as his PSG contract expired last summer and are hoping to repeat the same feat by signing Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer on a free.
