A headline member of the midfield ranks at Real Madrid is leading the way when it comes to passes into the final third across the La Liga season to date.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Real, of course, have endured something of a hit-and-miss opening to the defence of their La Liga title.
All told, across four outings in the Spanish top-flight to date, Los Blancos have managed two wins, and two draws.
Amidst such inconsistencies, however, one player has been largely singled out as a source of continued excellence in the ranks of the capital giants.
The player in question? Federico Valverde.
Uruguayan international Valverde has taken yet another step up in prominence in Ancelotti’s squad over the early weeks of the new term.
With Toni Kroos having hung up his boots, and Luka Modrić playing more of a backup role, the 26-year-old is shouldering more responsibility than ever at the Santiago Bernabéu.
And, on top of passing the eye test, Valverde’s exploits are backed by the numbers, too.
As revealed by statisticians Opta:
‘Federico Valverde has attempted (109) and completed (94) more passes ending in the final third than any other player in LaLiga 2024/25, as well as making the most vertical passes in the opposition half (117).’
