Sections of the home crowd in attendance at Real Madrid’s meeting with Girona this evening made use of the opportunity to send a message of appreciation to a member of the club’s sidelined contingent.
The player in question? Dani Carvajal.
Defender Carvajal is for his part of course in the midst of a long and no doubt arduous road to recovery from injury.
Back in October of last year, the Spanish international suffered a torn ACL, a devastating setback for a player heading into the twilight years of his career.
Carvajal was nevertheless in attendance on Sunday, though, to cheer his teammates on in a La Liga meeting with Girona.
And, during as much, the Real Madrid fans in attendance sent a message of support and appreciation to their side’s absent full-back.
After Carvajal was shown on the big screen inside the Santiago Bernabéu, chants of ‘We love you, Carvajal’ were heard booming across the stadium.
