Real Betis stalwart Nabil Fekir has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury, the club have confirmed.
As per the club statement, Fekir suffered a hyperextension of his left knee during the final minutes of Betis’ previous La Liga game against Elche. After further tests, the medical team has confirmed the worst fear – Fekir is out for the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The news comes as a major blow to Los Verdiblancos, with their 2022-23 season ambitions hanging in the balance. Having won three games on the trot, Betis were hitting form at the right time, with Real Madrid in La Liga and Manchester United in the Europa League Round of 16 to come next. However, Fekir’s injury leaves a massive hole in their XI.
The Frenchman has chipped in with six goals and three assists in 20 games for Betis in the current campaign, propelling them to fifth in the league, just two points off Atlético Madrid in the top four.
