The powers that be at La Liga outfit Real Betis have identified a member of the midfield ranks at Tottenham Hotspur as a leading summer transfer target.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Giovani Lo Celso as the player in question.
The brass at the Estadio Benito Villamarín are aware that they may be forced to dip into the market for attack-minded midfield reinforcements with a view to next season.
This comes amid ongoing speculation linking Nabil Fekir with a Betis exit.
Frenchman Fekir was hotly tipped for a move to Saudi Arabia during the January transfer window, with interest in his signature expected to reemerge in force over the months ahead.
And, in the case of a sale, Manuel Pellegrini and co. consider the aforementioned Lo Celso as the ideal replacement.
Argentine international Lo Celso is fresh off another largely underwhelming campaign in the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur.
Back in 2018, though, the 28-year-old dazzled across a short-lived stint on loan with none other than Betis.
Ahead of the expiration of his Spurs contract in the summer of 2025, the Verdiblancos are in turn hopeful of a reunion, for a potentially cut-price fee.
