Following an ACL tear last weekend, Nabil Fekir will miss the rest of the season. To make matters worse, Real Betis’ wage budget is too tight to replace the French playmaker.
As reported by Estadio Deportivo, Betis already had to perform various financial summersaults to be capable of bringing in Ayoze Pérez during the winter transfer window, and so now there is no space to maneuver monetarily to bring in a new player.
Interestingly, ED report that Fekir could have left Betis during January and Isco, now a free agent, would have taken his place. However, Al-Sadd’s offer wasn’t satisfactory, and the moves never went through.
While La Liga does give the right to bring in and register new players after the transfer window closes on the condition that they are free agents, due to the previously mentioned budget restrictions, Isco won’t be making a return to the city of Seville.
Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini would have been more than happy to see the Spaniard arrive. The two worked together at Málaga, where the Chilean coach made a young Isco shine.
