Ruhr Nachrichten reports that Borussia Dortmund are set to offer Raphaël Guerreiro a new contract, with his current deal expiring in the summer.
The club is to offer the 29-year-old a 2-year contract which will extend his stay at the club to a minimum of eight years. Dortmund have only recently decided to renew the contract of Guerreiro after his upturn in form, especially from the midfield position.
However, according to Sky Germany, Guerreiro has no future as a left-back at Dortmund as the club has agreed to sign Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer in the summer, it is likely the Algerian will be the number one left-back at Dortmund. While the likes of Julian Ryerson and Guerreiro can provide backup.
With Mahmoud Dahoud leaving Dortmund in the summer, the emergence of Guerreiro as a midfielder means they have potentially already found his replacement which could save Dortmund money.
In his two appearances from midfield this season against Schalke and 1.FC Köln, Guerreiro has scored twice and assisted three times.
