PSG striker Marco Asensio is close to making his return to Aston Villa as both clubs are nearing an agreement that would see the Spaniard rejoin Unai Emery’s Villains, as per L’Equipe. The outlet reports that the Premier League side has submitted a €15m bid to Les Parisiens. There is currently a €5m gap in valuation as the Champions League winners are holding out for a €20m transfer fee to part ways with Asensio.
Nevertheless, PSG and Aston Villa are confident that a compromise will eventually be reached before Monday’s deadline. Asensio was allowed to spend the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. The former Real Madrid striker hit eight goals and one assist in 21 appearances for the Birmingham-based Premier League side.
Asensio has entered the final months of the three-year deal he signed with PSG as a free agent. The Spaniard logged fewer goals with PSG than he did with Villa. PSG are in the process of trimming down their squad until Monday. They notably sold Milan Skriniar, Nordi Mukiele and Arnau Tenas. However, there is yet to be a breakthrough for Gianluigi Donnarumma and Randal Kolo Muani’s exits.
