PSG fail in their attempt to sign Milan Skriniar this January

Paris Saint-Germain have failed in their attempt to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in the January transfer window, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

PSG had earlier agreed a pre-contract with the Slovakian centre-back over a free transfer next summer, which the player also concorded.

However, Les Parisiens have been intensifying their efforts over the last few days to bring the 27-year-old in the January transfer window as Christophe Galtier wants defensive reinforcements in the second half of the season.

The talks with Nerazzurri have hit a standstill, with the Italian giants not budging away from their €20 million valuation.

PSG are said to be unwilling to raise their offer, meaning that a transfer in January is off the table.

It comes as a huge blow for the Ligue 1 champions, who have earmarked Skriniar as the marquee defender who can help in their quest for the Champions League title.

With PSG’s focus solely on Skriniar throughout the transfer window, they seem to have failed to identify potential alternatives. It also looks unlikely that the French champions will sign a new centre-back with only a day left in the window.

Inter have also been linked with a handful of defenders, including Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Nikola Milenkovic, as potential replacement for Skriniar.

Skriniar’s presence will be a boost for Inter in their pursuit of the scudetto, Coppa Italia and the Champions League this season.

Elsewhere, PSG are reportedly working on a deal to sign Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech on the deadline day of the January transfer window.
