President Philippe Diallo to stand for FFF re-election

L’Équipe understands that Philippe Diallo will stand for re-election for head of the French Football Federation (FFF) later this year.

Diallo took over from Noel Le Graet back in February 2023, who resigned from the position following comments about Zinédine Zidane. He had stepped back from his duties in January 2023, as requested by the committee, in the wake of his dismissive comments on Zidane’s chances of becoming France manager and pending the conclusions of an audit into the organisation. He then confirmed his departure just under two months later.

Diallo has been at the helm ever since. Whilst there was little doubt that he would stand for re-election, L’Équipe understands that his desire to do so has now been confirmed; up to now, when asked publically about his candidature, he had stopped short of saying that he would stand, instead stating that he was reflecting on it. He announced his intention to stand for re-election during a meeting on Saturday, according to L’Équipe.
