Paddy Pimblett recorded the biggest win of his career on Saturday night as he dominated former lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler in the co-main event of UFC 314. The 30-year-old Liverpudlian stopped his bloodied American opponent in the third round and immediately called out some of the top names in the company’s 155lb division.

Paddy used his post-fight interview to call out the likes of Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan as he made his case for a number one contender’s bout in the near future. However, even moments after a victory, Pimblett is never far from a row.

The backstage area at Kaseya Center in Miami quickly turned to chaos as Pimblett got into a heated confrontation with veteran UFC welterweight Colby Covington as he was trying to conduct an interview.

Backstage Security Stepped in as Pimblett and Covington Exchanged Words

The former welterweight title challenger was eventually ushered away from the Brit

Repeatedly making reference to the idea of Paddy continually facing opponents that are on losing streaks, Covington barged into the media area to square up to the Brit. As security sought to separate the pair, Pimblett declared: “I’ll slap you”.

Paddy had previously teased the idea of moving up to welterweight to face Covington. However, given that the Florida native has lost three of his last four bouts, the fight now seems well off the table, especially as Pimblett is likely to be a top 10-ranked lightweight in the coming days.

The scouser couldn’t resist poking fun at his rival by mockingly asking: “Aren’t you on a three-fight losing streak?” As Covington was led away by security, Pimblett roared with delight, while pointing in the American’s direction and calling him a “little maggot”.
