Conrad Harder finally made his first start for RB Leipzig in Sunday’s 2–0 win over Werder Bremen, stepping in for the injured Romulo Cardoso.
The 20-year-old Danish forward didn’t find the net, but RB Leipzig coach Ole Werner was encouraged by his performance.
“He can build on this,” Werner said at his post-match press conference.
“I thought he pressed extremely well. It’s not an easy game for a striker when the opponent sits so deep. You get very little space. Still, I liked the way he made runs into the channels.”
Even so, Werner noted that Harder still has room to grow when it comes to his movement inside the box.
“I would have liked a bit more presence there in terms of his movement.”
Next up for Leipzig is Friday’s Bundesliga clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach, where Rômulo could make his return.
“We hope he can be an option against Gladbach,” said Werner.
