La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Friday announced a considerable setback on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that defensive star Antonio Rüdiger is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Stopper Rüdiger is fresh off playing his part for Germany in the country’s latest round of World Cup qualifying fixtures.
In a pair of meetings with Slovakia and Northern Ireland, the former Chelsea man featured from the off in both.
As alluded to above, though, amid preparations for his return to action at club level this weekend, Rüdiger has suffered a blow.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Real Madrid:
‘Following tests conducted on Toni Rüdiger by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his left leg. Awaiting further development.’
Though confirmation regarding the extent of his injury is yet to surface, it has been suggested that Rüdiger could be facing up to a lengthy incoming spell on the sidelines.
