Nicolo Zaniolo has signed for Turkish side Galatasaray on a four year deal, for a fee reported to be in the region of €20 million.
Importantly for the Zaniolo camp, the contract includes a release clause valued at €35 million, providing the Italian a quick get out clause should clubs from bigger leagues come calling.
The move comes after a month of speculation and controversy which saw Zaniolo’s projected move to Milan fall apart, along with the player being excluded from Roma’s project after a refusal to leave to Bournemouth (which he later backtracked on) and also being reportedly chased from the Eternal City by furious fans who weren’t impressed by his actions.
Due to all that’s occurred and the souring relationship with Roma and Jose Mourinho, it is expected that this move will come as a welcome break for all parties involved.
Galatasary currently sit top of the Super Lig by 10 points, so Zaniolo will get a league winners medal in his Turkish expedition even if it doesn’t last long.
