Manchester City have signed PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (26), both clubs have announced. The Italy international goalkeeper was transfer-listed despite his Champions League heroics with Les Parisiens. The 26-year-old has entered the final months of his contract and PSG head coach Luis Enrique decided that it was time to move on from Donnarumma.
PSG quickly wrapped up an agreement with Ligue 1 rivals Lille OSC to sign France international Lucas Chevalier, as a way to show Donnarumma the door. The former AC Milan Academy graduate reached an agreement on personal terms with the Skyblues, before both clubs eventually found a compromise on Deadline Day over a €30m+ transfer fee. The shot-stopper’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium hinged on Ederson’s departure to Fenerbahçe. Donnarumma has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League side.
