Loïs Diony (32) has left SCO Angers, initially on loan, ahead of a likely contract termination in the upcoming weeks or months.
Diony, who was Angers’ top scorer in Ligue 2 last season with 15 goals, has been on the fringes this season. Ever since a lethargic appearance off the bench at the start of the season, against RC Lens, he has been training with the reserves. It came at a time where the striker was looking for a better contract, with opportunities to join FC Metz and Schalke ultimately being passed up. He has not appeared in a matchday squad since that game against Lens.
Diony, who is also now under investigation by the LFP for having betted on his own team during a game against Paris FC last season, has left Angers. He has joined Bandirmaspor in the Turkish second division. It is a short-term loan, however, the striker’s contract, which was set to run until 2026, is expected to be terminated. He therefore will not return to Angers upon the completion of the loan.
