La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday evening seen their opponents for the next round of the Champions League confirmed.
Barca, for their part, booked their place in the quarter-finals of European football’s premiere club competition on Tuesday night.
This came by way of a 3-1 downing of Benfica, enough for a 4-1 aggregate triumph.
With the path to the Champions League finale having long been laid out, the Blaugrana, in turn, were well aware that they would be pitted against one of Borussia Dortmund or LOSC Lille in the next round.
And, on Wednesday, as much was decided.
After a 1-1 first leg stalemate in Germany last week, Dortmund recovered from an early goal down at The Stade Pierre-Mauroy, to emerge 2-1 victors.
This means that BVB have been pencilled in for what will no doubt be an action-packed two-legged quarter-final meeting with Hansi Flick’s in-form Barcelona.
