Olympique de Marseille midfielder Azzedine Ounahi (25) has completed a permanent move to Girona FC, as announced by the Olympien club via an official communiqué. The Moroccan international joined Marseille after a promising spell at Angers SCO, and an exciting showing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In total Ounahi played 44 games for OM in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, scoring three goals. Last season the midfielder was sent out on loan to Greek side Panathinaikos and impressed with five goals over 37 appearances. Marseille opted to sell Ounahi this season, with interest coming from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. But finally it is La Liga side Girona that have managed to come out on top, as the player will be sold for €6m.
The move to Girona marks a fresh opportunity for Ounahi to establish himself again, especially in view of the upcoming AFCON which is set to take place this winter in Morocco.
