Newcastle United have completed the signing of forward Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart in a club-record deal for an initial fee of €75 million plus €5 million in potential add-ons.
Woltemade’s performances in the 2024-25 season attracted widespread attention, as he scored 17 goals across all competitions, including five in the DFB Pokal, where Stuttgart went all the way.
Known for his towering height at 198 cm, Woltemade combines physical presence with technical ability, creativity and versatility.
He is capable of playing multiple roles in attack, offering Newcastle a variety of tactical options.
His transfer has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, with Bayern Munich making three unsuccessful attempts to secure his services.
Despite Bayern’s interest, Stuttgart held firm on a valuation above €75 million, before Newcastle ultimately met the asking price.
“I’m really happy to be at this amazing club,” Woltemade said while speaking for the first time as a Newcastle player.
“From the first contact, I felt like the club really wanted me and had big plans for me.
“It’s a big step in my life to leave Germany, but everybody has welcomed me so well, and it already feels like family.
“I have a really good feeling from speaking to the head coach that this is the right place for me to find my best level.”
Woltemade’s arrival is expected to pave the way for Alexander Isak’s exit, as the Swede continues to hold out for a move to Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are still in the market for another striker and are expected to continue their pursuit of Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
