Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães has provided his take on why La Liga giants Barcelona are such an ‘annoying team’ to play against.
Barca and Newcastle of course locked horns on Thursday night.
In the respective clubs’ European season opener, the sides did battle in a Champions League clash at St. James’ Park.
When all was said and done, it was the visitors who emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, courtesy of a Marcus Rashford brace.
And as alluded to above, one player who could not help but become frustrated with the flow of the game en route to as much was Bruno Guimarães.
Speaking to the media post-match on Tyneside, Magpies midfielder Guimarães explained just why Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are such a difficult side to contend with:
“Barcelona are an annoying team because they always want to dominate possession. They never tire of controlling the ball.A team that makes you lose your nerves, as you barely touch the ball, so you get physically drained and exhausted, and when you finally get the ball, you don’t perform well because you’re tired.”
