Newcastle making serious moves for Marcus Rashford transfer

Newcastle United are making “serious moves” to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, well-connected sources have told CaughtOffside.

High-up figures with close ties to the agents industry have confirmed that Newcastle are showing a strong interest in Rashford this summer.

The England international is widely expected to leave Man Utd after falling out of favour since Ruben Amorim became manager.

This led to Rashford going out on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of last season, but he’s now expected to move on to a different club again.

As has been widely reported, CaughtOffside understands that Rashford’s preference is for a move to Barcelona, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be a priority for the Catalan giants.

Marcus Rashford wanted by Newcastle

Newcastle are in the market for attacking players this summer, with the Athletic reporting that they had a bid rejected for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.

Rashford could now be emerging as an alternative for Newcastle, and he’d likely be cheaper, as Sky Sports previously stated his asking price was around £40m.

For now, however, sources have told CaughtOffside that Newcastle are seeking a loan deal for Rashford, even if United would prefer a permanent sale.

Still, other suitors could also get involved in the race for Rashford, who has admirers all across Europe.

Tottenham are another Premier League side showing an interest, while the 27-year-old is also on the radar of Serie A giants AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli, as well as La Liga duo Atletico Madrid and Real Betis, plus Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Newcastle’s interest is the strongest for the time being, but it remains to be seen if they can come to an agreement with United over this deal.
