Napoli have narrowed down the list of managerial candidates to three names, including ex-Paris Saint-Germain gaffer Christophe Galtier, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The Partenopei are on the lookout for a new head coach after Scudetto-winning manager Luciano Spalletti quit his job in order to take some time off from the management.
Besides Galtier, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is also considering Salernitana head coach Paulo Sousa and ex-Lyon gaffer Rudi Garcia.
There have also been rumours linking Luis Enrique with a move to Diego Maradona Stadium, however, it appears that the Spanish gaffer is currently out of contention.
Galtier was recently relieved of his duties by PSG after just one season.
The ex-Lille gaffer led Les Parisiens to the Ligue 1 title, but it was overshadowed by the failure in the Champions League and the racism allegations against him.
On the other hand, Sousa has worked wonders with Salernitana in a quick period of time.
Since his appointment in April 2023, the Portuguese gaffer has recorded only three defeats in 19 games, helping Salernitana sustain their place in Serie A.
However, the complication is Napoli may have to pay a considerable compensation fee to release him from Salernitana.
Meanwhile, Garcia has been out of management since leaving Al-Nassr earlier this year.
The 59-year-old had two separate stints with Lyon and was also at the helm of Lille when they won the Ligue 1 in 2010/11.
Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has also been linked with an exit this summer, however, De Laurentiis continues to deny it.
The Partenopei ended their 33-year title drought by clinching the Scudetto last season, and it remains to be seen whether they can defend it under a new manager next season.
