It has become evident that David Ospina’s future lies far from Napoli, with Partenopei considering signing a replacement from Genoa.
Today’s edition of Il Mattino reports that Napoli are interested in bringing Genoa’s Salvatore Sirigu as a suitable replacement for David Ospina.
Signed from Arsenal permanently in 2019, Ospina will leave Naples as a free agent this summer, having failed to reach an agreement over a contract renewal at a club struggling with severe financial limitations.
Now that his chapter in Serie A is closed, Ospina might reportedly consider joining a Spanish club. However, in terms of a potential suitor for the Colombian, no name has come forth.
On the other hand, the negotiations over a transfer for Sirigu are well underway. The former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper will leave Genoa on a free transfer in the summer.
Genoa’s drop to Serie B has also increased Napoli’s chances of wrapping up the deal for the 35-year-old Italian custodian. It is also understood that Alex Meret will sign a contract extension with Napoli until June 2026.
