Nagelsmann gives squad updates, reveals rehab schedules of Mané and Davies

FC Bayern München trainer Julian Nagelsmann, in addition to giving squad updates ahead of the weekend, answered questions about his star attacker Sadio Mané’s World Cup prospects at his Friday presser.

Mané will definitely remain in Germany for at least another ten days. Alphonso Davies, on the other hand, should be headed to the Canadian camp on time.

“We’ll do another follow-up in ten days and then we’ll see how the healing process is on the tibial plateau,” Nagelsmann said,” Then there will be further decisions. In general, the early use after an injury is always critical.”

Senegal kick off World Cup Group Stage play next Monday against the Dutch national team in Doha. Nagelsmann effectively revealed that Mané stands no chance of even joining the team prior to that. Aliou Cissé’s Indomitable Lions, defending African continental Champions, will conclude group stage play on November 29th. It might be the case that Mané can still make it down to the Peninsula in time.

“If he is in pain and can’t play, then he won’t be able to play. Even if the association would like that,” Nagelsmann emphasized, “The medical things are always above the sporting ones. We’ll get a diagnosis and follow up after that.”

“He’s in Munich for a few more days for rehab, so we can get him fit for the World Cup,” Nagelsmann said, “Then he’ll travel down.”
