It is another poorly-timed injury for Vanderson, who after missing the last international break with Brazil through injury, will also miss the upcoming international break.
The AS Monaco defender went down injured midway through the first half in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City. The right-back was visibly upset and sat in tears on the sideline as he awaited the stretcher.
It had been feared that Vanderson had potentially suffered a severe knee injury, however, Adi Hutter provided a positive update post-match, stating that he believed he had instead suffered a hamstring injury.
An MRI has confirmed that it was indeed a hamstring injury, and speaking at a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Hutter stated that the defender will likely miss six weeks of action. “I am sad for him; he was selected for Brazil, too. You can imagine he is sad about it,” added the Monaco manager.
