Max Eberl’s work at Bayern Munich raising doubts internally

Sport Bild (via Fußball Transfers) reports that internally, there are doubts surrounding the work of Max Eberl at Bayern Munich.

The magazine has presented several case studies to show why doubts are growing around the Bayern director of sport.

The first example given is surrounding Bayern’s search for a coach last summer. It is said that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß had convinced the new Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick, to return to the club where he won the treble in 2020. However, a crucial planned call between Eberl and Flick never happened, so Flick moved to Catalonia instead.

It is also said that Eberl tends to work on his own, is never available, and when he is available, he can only be reached through video calls.

The examples given here are with the sale of Kingsley Coman to Saudi Arabia earlier in this window; there was a period where Eberl was not even available for the day, something that is usually important during a transfer window.

Other examples can be seen with proposed meetings with Thomas Tuchel and Nico Williams; Eberl was only available through a video call.

There is already talk about Markus Krösche potentially replacing Eberl in his role at Bayern. Uli Hoeneßs recent comments about Eberl also do not help the situation.
