With the appointment of Nuri Şahin as Borussia Dortmund, fans can expect a shake-up at the Westfalenstadion, with the strength and depth in midfield a key talking point regarding recruitment. Among the potential departures is Salih Özcan (26), who joined the club from FC Köln in 2022, with several clubs showing an interest.
Borussia Dortmund would command a fee of around €10m for Özcan and, according to Sky Germany, Ligue 1 duo Marseille and Rennes are two clubs showing an interest in the Turkey international, alongside Besiktas and an unnamed Saudi Pro League club, all of whom have expressed an interest.
With 70 games across all competitions since his arrival, Özcan is comfortable in Dortmund, but that may change should his playing time diminish. The 26-year-old has featured in three of four of Turkey’s games at Euro 2024, two of them coming on as a substitute. It’s also been a similar story in Dortmund last season. Of his 23 Bundesliga games, Özcan started 13, but only completed 90 minutes on seven occasions.
