Rasmus Hojlund looks set to be stuck in transfer no-man’s land for the foreseeable future.
Manchester United appear to have poured all their eggs into the baskets of new signings Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.
One might reasonably assume most would be in full agreement with the Red Devils’ strategy, given that the Dane has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford.
Rasmus Hojlund is not AC Milan’s top transfer priority

Alfredo Pedulla now reports that Hojlund’s hopes of securing a transfer to AC Milan are dwindling.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side, to be clear, are still interested in the United forward. However, their clear priority at this stage in the window remains Juventus hitman Dusan Vlahovic.
“Let me tell you something. Milan are tracking two or three strikers. If it were up to Allegri, they would sign Vlahovic and not Höjlund,” the reporter exclusively informed The Italian Football Podcast.
“Then maybe Hojlund arrives, but for them Vlahovic is more of a priority in terms of importance. Because Vlahovic is a better player than Höjlund. Vlahovic can guarantee you 15-18 goals. Höjlund is a question mark, I don’t know.
“Because Höjlund when he was in Italy, when he left Atalanta to go to Manchester United, had scored 7-8 goals. He hasn’t scored a lot of goals at Manchester United.
“Therefore, for Juve who want to bring back Kolo Muani this week, they could find themselves with three attackers: Jonathan David, Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani. But I think that we have to pay attention to Vlahovic until the end of the window.”
The Milan boss’s former protege registered 17 goals and five assists in 44 games (across all competitions) in the 2024/25 campaign.
Players | Goal contributions | Minutes per goal contribution |
Rasmus Hojlund | 14 | 237.28 |
Dusan Vlahovic | 22 | 122.59 |
Given Hojlund’s ongoing struggles in Manchester, it’s not hard to see why Allegri is comparatively more keen on securing the Serbian’s signature.
Manchester United could still sell Hojlund to Serie A
That’s not to totally rule out the possibility of the ex-Atalanta ace making his way back to the Italian top-flight this summer.
Pedulla went on to add: “It also depends a lot on what Juventus wants, which I think can’t be even €25 million. They can ask €16 million + add-ons.
“And if Milan are ok with this sum, then I think it’s all to play for, without forgetting Hojlund. Because Hojlund is also on Milan’s list.”
Manchester United could not have communicated their stance on the player more clearly than by leaving the centre-forward out of the squad that hosted Arsenal at Old Trafford.
However, it now remains unclear where Rasmus Hojlund himself currently stands on the question of his United future.
The footballer has previously made it clear that he still sees the Theatre of Dreams as his home. But the arrivals of the likes of Cunha and Sesko will surely have rocked his faith in that notion.
With Serie A winners Napoli also reportedly holding some interest in Hojlund, there may not be a better moment to jump ship.
