Manchester United have opened initial talks to sign Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku, according to L’Équipe.
The Red Devils are looking to improve their squad after finishing 15th in the Premier League. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failed to score consistently.
The club have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is also on their radar.
United have initiated talks over a potential deal for Nkunku, who is currently under contract with Chelsea until 2029.
Nkunku has struggled at Chelsea

Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in a big-money transfer in 2023. He arrived with high expectations, but things have not gone to plan.
The 26-year-old missed much of his first season through injury and struggled for rhythm when he returned.
Nkunku mainly featured in the Europa Conference League last season. He found it hard to break into the starting line-up in the Premier League.
Despite being named in the Chelsea squad for the ongoing Club World Cup in the United States, Nkunku could leave this summer.
The forward is valued at €35 million by Transfermarkt. He is an attack-minded player who can play as a centre forward, wide on the left flank or behind the striker.
He is known for his pace, ability to beat defenders one-on-one and sharp movement in the final third.
Nkunku bagged 14 goals and five assists in all competitions for Chelsea last season, despite limited game time.
United believe Nkunku’s versatility and skill set could give them more edge in attack as they aim to bounce back next season.
