Manchester City enter race to sign Celta Vigo starlet Gabri Veiga

Premier League champions Manchester City are keeping tabs on Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Cityzens are in the race for the 21-year-old after a breakthrough campaign in La Liga this season.

Veiga scored 11 goals and recorded four assists for his boyhood club. He netted a double against Barcelona to ensure his side stayed in the top flight after flirting with relegation.

City have emerged as suitors for the O Porrino-born starlet after dropping their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

The England international is seemingly heading to the Emirates after City refused to match what the Gunners are ready to pay.

City are in for Veiga, whom they were linked to back in March. The player has an affordable release clause that several clubs can afford. His release clause is reportedly €40 million.

In addition to City, Chelsea and Liverpool have shown interest in the Spain under-21 international.

The Blues have him on their radar to replace Mason Mount, who is pushing for a move to Manchester United. They have already lost Mateo Kovacic to City.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is heading to AC Milan. The West Londoners need bodies in the centre.

Also, Liverpool are planning a midfield overhaul, and Veiga is one of the names on their shortlist.

They have already signed Alexis Mac Allister, but the Reds need one or two more additions to give head coach Jurgen Klopp a squad to compete with.

City are now in the race with their Premier League rivals to take Veiga. They have not made any concrete move for him, but they want information about his situation.

City have lost captain Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona. He left the club as a free agent.

However, the UEFA Champions League winners have signed Kovacic to replace him. They are still looking for more midfield additions ahead of next season.
