Man Utd Want to Sign ‘One of the Best Players in the World’ From La Liga Club

Manchester United are eyeing a surprise summer swoop for Real Madrid star winger Rodrygo, according to CaughtOffside.

The Red Devils are believed to be closely monitoring the 24-year-old forward’s situation, as his transfer saga continues to unfold amid uncertainty over his future in the Spanish capital.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be interested in the Brazil international, who is likely to be available for a fee in the region of €80-85m, despite Real’s initial €110m asking price.

While new boss Xabi Alonso would ideally like to keep Rodrygo at the club, there is a growing sense that a summer exit could be on the cards, with increasing competition for places at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are believed to have shown the most interest in a summer deal for Rodrygo so far, with Mikel Arteta a big admirer of the winger’s profile.

Rodrygo is seen as a potential alternative to their long-standing target Nico Williams, who is expected to leave Athletic Bilbao for Barcelona in the coming weeks.

Man United, meanwhile, have been heavily focused on bolstering their attacking options this summer, with a deal close to completion for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.

The Cameroonian forward is set to become United’s second summer signing, following the £62.5m arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Rodrygo, praised as ‘one of the best players in world football’, joined Real from Brazilian side Santos in 2019 and has three years remaining on his contract, which runs until June 2028.

The 24-year-old is currently focused on competing at the Club World Cup with Real and is expected to resolve his future once the tournament concludes next month.
