Man Utd in Talks to Sign ‘World-Class’ £52m Brazilian Alongside Mbeumo

Manchester United have opened talks to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with the Italian club looking for around £52m to allow him to depart this summer, according to GOAL.

Bringing in a new midfielder could be one of United’s priorities after they’ve solved their attacking problems in the summer transfer window. Christian Eriksen left the club earlier in the summer after his contract expired at Old Trafford, while Casemiro is reaching the latter stages of his career.

Matheus Cunha was the first senior addition to arrive through the door this summer, joining the Manchester club from Wolves. Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that United remain in talks to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo after they saw two bids rejected for the Cameroonian international.

The Brazilian, who has been labelled “world-class”, could be a smart signing for United if they are able to get a deal over the line. Ederson has enjoyed an impressive spell with Atalanta, and Ruben Amorim’s side could do with plenty of additions in all positions during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils finished in the bottom half of the Premier League during the 2024/2025 campaign, failing to lift a trophy after they lost the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur. Reinforcements will be necessary if they want to head back in the right direction, and the signings of Cunha, and potentially Mbeumo, might not be enough for them to break back into the European places.
