Man Utd could now let £43k-a-week star leave Old Trafford – GiveMeSport

Manchester United could sanction Anthony Elanga’s Old Trafford exit this month, but there is a possibility that doubts over his long-term future will ‘drag on towards the back end of this window’, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag bolstered his attacking options by sealing the loan acquisition of Wout Weghorst last week, but there may be further business to be done before the end of the month.

Man United transfer news – Anthony Elanga

According to Football Insider, Everton are working on a deal which would see Elanga swap Manchester United for Goodison Park.

The report suggests the Red Devils are yet to give the green light for the winger to leave, most likely on loan for the remainder of the season, while further Premier League rivals have been showing an interest.

Writing for CaughtOffside, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United will make a decision over whether to sanction Elanga’s temporary exit in the coming days.

Respected talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook recently told GiveMeSport that the 20-year-old could be allowed to move on if ten Hag succeeds in luring a replacement to Old Trafford, while he was close to joining Bournemouth last summer.

Manchester United are in a strong negotiating position as Elanga’s £43,000-per-week contract is not due to expire until the summer of 2026.

What has Dean Jones said about Elanga?

Jones believes the uncertainty over where Elanga’s future lies could persist until the final stages of the transfer window.

The journalist feels Manchester United may be willing to offload the Sweden international if an exciting loan proposal is put forward.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “The Elanga situation was always going to be one that would crop up and I think it might even drag on towards the back end of this window.

“I think they would let him go if a good enough opportunity for him came along. I think that United would need to be sure that he is going to progress as part of the move.”

Should Man United send Elanga out on loan?

According to the Daily Mail, Elanga has become frustrated by his lack of opportunities at Manchester United.

He has been restricted to just 602 minutes of action since the campaign got underway and moving onto pastures new could benefit all parties.

A regular run of appearances away from Old Trafford may result in Elanga returning to his current employers reinvigorated and full of confidence ahead of next term, which would bode well for ten Hag.

However, the academy graduate has been described as a ‘phenomenal talent’ by Daily Express journalist Alex Turk and a permanent transfer should not be sanctioned.

Elanga has shown he has plenty of talent, having registered seven goal contributions in 47 senior appearances for Manchester United, and allowing him to move onto pastures new would be a mistake.
