Man United’s Rasmus Hojlund unlikely to seal Inter transfer

There is currently a big gap between Manchester United and Inter Milan after initial discussions over the potential transfer of striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The Denmark international is available this summer, but sources high up in the industry have informed CaughtOffside that Man Utd’s clear preference is for a permanent sale.

For now, however, Inter are only interested in signing Hojlund on loan, with early talks not leading to anything concrete and putting the deal in doubt.

Alfredo Pedulla previously reported on Inter making Hojlund a transfer target this summer in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, but it remains to be seen if a deal can happen now.

Rasmus Hojlund has other Serie A suitors, including Napoli

Hojlund has other suitors in Serie A this summer, sources have confirmed to CaughtOffside, and we’ve previously been told that the former Atalanta man would be eager to join Napoli.

One issue at the moment, however, is that Napoli are making Liverpool centre-forward Darwin Nunez their top target in that area of the pitch.

Still, Hojlund remains an option under consideration as it’s not yet confirmed if Napoli and LFC will be able to agree a fee for Nunez, who will not come cheap.

Man United need to make sales this summer

Hojlund is one of a few names United really need to be able to offload this summer after a nightmare campaign in 2024/25.

The Red Devils will have missed out on a lot of money after they lost the Europa League final, which cost them a place in next season’s Champions League.

Having already signed Matheus Cunha, it will be crucial to also bring money in from player sales in order not to fall foul of Financial Fair Play rules.

Hojlund is someone who’s been earmarked as a good option to sell, but for now a move to Inter looks complicated.
