Mainz boss comments on Gruda speculation

Mainz coach Christian Heidel has commented on speculation linking Brajan Gruda with a move away from the club.

Brajan Gruda is said to have attracted the interest of a long list of clubs after breaking through for Mainz in the 2023/24 season.

However, Mainz don’t want to let the 20-year-old go unless they receive a special offer, says sporting director Christian Heidel.

“We would only consider letting him go this year if we received a truly exceptional offer,” Heidel told Bild.

When asked about his future, Gruda didn’t categorically rule out leaving Mainz, but that doesn’t concern Heidel.

“Should he say that he wants to stay in Mainz no matter what?
That would be pretty stupid, because he doesn’t know what might happen at the moment.

According to reports, Mainz want at least €50 million for the young attacking midfielder.

Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and a number of English clubs have been linked with Gruda.
