In a pre-match press conference ahead of PSG’s match against Marseille, Luis Enrique confirmed that Marquinhos (31) won a vote to retain his place as captain of the Ligue 1 club. The Brazil international will continue to lead the UEFA Champions League winners out for the foreseeable future after winning the vote.
As confirmed by RMC Sport, the vote that took place also confirmed the leadership hierarchy in the dressing room at Les Parisiens. Achraf Hakimi was named vice captain following the vote and will don the armband should Marquinhos be absent through injury or suspension.
Vitinha and Ousmane Dembélé seen as captain material
The other two players that were seen as potential candidates to become PSG captain were Vitinha and Ousmane Dembélé. The Portuguese international midfielder has been named third choice, and the Frenchman will take the responsibility in the unlikely event that all three are unavailable.
