According to Fabrice Hawkins, Liverpool have intensified their efforts to sign Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki (21). The Frenchman is attracting the interest of the Premier League outfit as they look to take advantage of the precarious financial situation at OL.
L’Équipe previously reported the Reds’ interest in singing the playmaker. However, it appears the Merseyside club now may have taken their pursuit of Cherki to another level. Any move would be opportunistic for Liverpool. Les Gones are required to sell after being provisionally relegated by the DNCG due to their worsening financial situation. The demotion of the 7-time Ligue 1 champions to Ligue 2 is not definitive but will require player sales and other financial improvements to be made.
Asking price set
Foot Mercato report that Lyon have set a €30m asking price to sell the France U21 international in the January transfer window. Nevertheless, RMC understands that the OL management would persuaded to sell Cherki for a lower price as long as the player is interested in the move.
