Liverpool have been told how much they need to pay to sign Rayan Cherki

Liverpool’s summer transfer business is well and truly underway with Arne Slot making some early moves.

The Premier League champions are edging closer to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong with the Dutchman coming in as a replacement of Trent Alexander-Arnold who has decided to leave the club this summer.

Along with a new right-sided defender, the Reds are involved in talks to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez who is going to add depth to their left-back department.

There transfer business is not going to stop there as Slot is also looking to add creativity to his side.

Arne Slot wants more creativity

One of the players they are targeting this summer is Lyon’s Rayan Cherki who has been in fine form this season for the French club.

His Lyon teammate Ainsley Maitland-Niles has described the young Frenchman as ‘the best natural talent I’ve ever seen’.

Lyon have reportedly placed a €40 million (£34 million) valuation on highly rated playmaker Rayan Cherki ahead of the summer transfer window, according to L’Equipe.

The Reds are actively exploring options to strengthen their creative midfield, particularly the No. 10 role.

While Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen remains the club’s top target, Cherki is being seriously considered as a strong alternative should a deal for the German prodigy prove too difficult or expensive to finalise.

A graduate of Lyon’s youth system, he made his senior debut at just 16 and has since impressed with his flair, close control, and ability to unlock defences from central and wide positions.

His contract, which is nearing its final year, could also give suitors extra leverage in negotiations, potentially lowering the price or opening the door to structured deals with performance-based add-ons.
