The deal with nevertheless not go through unless the sale of FCB central defender Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United. Noussair Mazraoui’s move to United looks to be done, but the de Ligt transfer still requires work from both sides.
There is, per Stephan van Nocks of Germany’s Kicker Magazine, a new twist in the ongoing transfer saga of German national team defender Jonathan Tah. The Leverkusen correspondent for Germany’s preeminent footballing publication reports that Bayern and the defending Bundesliga champions have reached an agreement over Tah’s purchase.
The 28-year-old will move to Bayern for a base-transfer-fee of €25 million. An additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses has been tacked on. Van Nocks claims that Leverkusen find this fee acceptable and are prepared to let Tah depart. Bayern, however, aren’t willing to complete the deal unless the sale of center back Matthijs de Ligt has been finalized.
Bayern and the English Red Devils are thought to still be considerably far apart when it comes to the compensation sought for de Ligt. Max Eberl and the FCB administrative team may nevertheless be willing to lower their asking price down from a reported €50 million. The German and English record champs do, according to multiple sources, appear close to settling the Noussair Mazraoui transfer at some point this week.
