Leeds United could consider appointing former Juventus and Bologna boss Thiago Motta as Daniel Farke’s successor, Express journalist Sam Smith has reported.
The Whites are now weighing up parting ways with the German tactician just days after securing Premier League promotion and could soon begin looking at potential names to lead them on their return to the top flight next season.
While Como boss Cesc Fabregas has been mentioned among the candidates to take over at Elland Road, Motta could emerge as another interesting option.
The Italian tactician was sacked by Juventus last month and remains out of work after four seasons in Serie A, where he managed the likes of Spezia and Bologna before his short stint in Turin.

Thiago Motta among potential successors
According to Smith, Motta’s appointment could be a great fit for Leeds as the Italian manager has a proven track record of overachieving with smaller Serie A clubs, including qualifying for the Champions League with Bologna last season.
The 42-year-old’s tactical versatility would be another advantage, with his ‘super-offensive’ 2-7-2 system delivering superb results during his two seasons with Bologna and earning him praise as ‘one of the best and most promising managers around Europe’.
Leeds are now believed to be considering Farke’s future at Elland Road, with his previous Premier League performances a particular point of concern.
The German tactician was at the helm for Norwich City’s relegation campaigns in 2019/20 and 2021/22, although he did not see out the latter and was dismissed in November 2021.
While no final decision has been made, other candidates are being evaluated ahead of Leeds’ return to the Premier League, with Como boss Fabregas emerging as a surprise contender.
