LeBron James is undeniably one of the greatest NBA players to have ever lived, and even despite entering his 40s, continues to be one of the best stars in the league today. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has been dominating the NBA for some time now, winning multiple championships with different franchises, and getting his hands on a few MVP awards too.
As the 2025/2026 NBA season approaches, LeBron will be hoping to further his case for being basketball’s GOAT ahead of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan by winning his fifth title – whether he can also add a fifth MVP remains to be seen, given his age and the quality of some of the players in the league now.
Given the incredibly long and successful career LeBron has enjoyed, the now Lakers star has unsurprisingly played with a lot of top talents, including those who are in the Hall of Fame – not least the likes of Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal for example.
From his days as a Cleveland Cavalier when he had Kyrie Irving to help win a championship for his hometown team, to the Miami Heat where he formed a big three alongside Wade and Chris Bosh, to now with the Lakers where he has gone from Anthony Davis to Luka Doncic, James has always had some All-Star supporting cast.
But while James has had the chance to play with some world-class players in the NBA, there remains one man who the King is desperate to get the chance to join forces with, and it’s fair to say the league wouldn’t stand a chance of stopping them if they did.
LeBron James Revealed He Would Love to Team Up With NBA Superstar
Since joining with the Lakers, the team’s front office have done their best to put together the kind of roster that can help James add to his legacy by winning yet more rings. Thus far, they have only managed to secure one since James’ arrival, doing so in the bubble when LeBron could count on Anthony Davis to be his co-star.
But after the blockbuster mid-season trade that saw Davis sent to the Dallas Mavericks and the Lakers getting back Luka Doncic in return, James now has a superstar alongside him who can genuinely share the creative and scoring load going forward. But while James has been effusive in his praise of Doncic, it’s actually someone else who the King has admitted to wanting to team up with.
Steph Curry’s the one that I wanna play with for sure, in today’s game. I love everything about that guy. Lethal. When he get out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena. … You might wanna guard him when he get out of the bed. Swear to god. He’s serious.
LeBron James and Steph Curry On the Same Team Would Be Unbeatable
While the prospect of LeBron James and Steph Curry teaming up in the NBA now appears to be remote to say the least, it’s still a mouthwatering combination to think about hypothetically. James’ elite ability and athleticism to drive into the paint would mean teams throwing double teams at him, and that would inevitably leave them with the conundrum of having to step off one of the game’s greatest shooters in Curry.
As both players’ NBA careers wind down, from a fans’ perspective, it’s important to appreciate what they have delivered for the game in terms of their overall legacy. James and Curry’s exploits with the US Olympic team have at least given people a glimpse of what they could do together when partnered together.
Indeed, after the Paris Olympics, James admitted just how much he enjoyed playing with Curry and the excitement he had knowing he would be playing alongside one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen.
It was everything and more. I was super excited to be able to finally team up with him in a win-or-die type atmosphere. That’s what it was, being a part of the Olympics. It was everything that I dreamed of and aspired to want, to be a part of that team, along with Steph. Great memories. Something that I’ll remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life, for sure.
