Lazio are planning to sign a striker in the January transfer window following the injury to talisman Ciro Immobile.
The Italian striker sustained a hamstring injury against Udinese last week, and he is expected to be sidelined until 2023.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio have shortlisted two strikers from La Liga as potential targets – Lucas Boye (Elche) and Rafa Mir (Sevilla).
Boye has been one of the best-performing players for Elche, racking up 16 goals and seven assists in 68 appearances.
The Argentine also holds an Italian passport which he acquired during his previous spell at Torino.
The 26-year-old joined the Turin outfit in 2016 from River Plate but endured a difficult time in Italy.
He spent various spells on loan before reviving his career at Elche.
His impressive performances with the Spanish outfit also led to his debut with the Argentine national team earlier this year.
Boye’s contract with Elche runs until 2024 and could potentially be a short-term replacement for Immobile.
Mir has experienced a disappointing campaign with Sevilla, scoring only one goal in six games.
The Spaniard impressed in his debut campaign last season but has struggled to replicate that form this term.
The 25-year-old will be desperate to turn his fortunes around under new head coach Jorge Sampaoli.
Mir has a contract until 2027, and it looks unlikely that Sevilla would sell him in January when they are trying to steady the ship following a disastrous start to the season.
Maurizio Sarri must rely on Pedro and Matteo Cancellieri in the absence of Immobile in the short term.
